First, let me start by stating how amazing I am at posting these days…

Earlier this month The Drums released their sophomore album “Portamento”.  What can I say.  It’s fun.  Dance worthy. Viva neu New Wave?  And yes, that was the most asinine photo I could find of the group.  Have a listen to “Money” as it illustrates the continued strong roots the band has grown since their first album.

There isn’t much information out there about Aftermidnight&theOwl.  This lack of coverage may be an indication that the artist has chosen to stop or has changed the direction of the project.  He may also just as well be working quietly without promoting.  Either way, I’m a fan.  If this is all we get, it will have to be enough.  “Going to St Ives” is still my jam but be sure to have a listen to the entire EP courtesy of their Soundcloud page.

Going to make at least ONE post this month as I slowly fall back into my idle existence.  As the weather picks up it’s important to have new driving tracks for these brisk spring days, well Beach Fossils’s timely new EP has you covered.  Throw on some Wild Nothing for good measure as both bands compliment one another as you’ll hear in the culmination track on the EP that features Jack Tatum.

To break continuity of the past recent nonsensical postings, today’s SMJ will be tame, fitting; more on par with what some come to expect from such blogs.  However, I will not supply any insight into the future of music nor try and render interpretations that are beyond thought of the artists themselves.  I long to find a peace piece of my past, an error in my way, and in doing so have found the soundtrack to life.  So it comes as a surprise that I have never posted about the Scene, which in my youth induced an ample joy, one vast enough to suspend my childish dreams far enough from well-reasoned expectations and further down into ill-conceived possibility.  You Forgot It in People and their self titled album scored and scorched those lost hours during my early Savannah days.  It was a peace I hadn’t realized and is no longer -  “Time only moves back for those who are willing to lose it all, all over again”.

Lately I’ve been perusing the archives of my past, having the happy occasion of stumbling across some untouched music that date back to my early years where fake eye lashes and lipstick picasso’ing my face was a normal Sunday affair.  Upon firing up some lovely Emilie Autumn and doing a quick search to see what my Victoriandustrial queen was working on, returned the startling information that her current tour had passed through my state all but a week ago.  Needless to say the news was devastating; youtube bitter sweet, and my life a meaningless void.  Her name remains well known but unexplored – at least to the degree that her brilliance deserves to be.  Hopefully after 4 years without a release, Fight Like A Girl which is still TBA, will be ready sometime this year.  In the meantime, enjoy Miss Autumn -  today’s SMJ.

I will try easing back into making regular posts; somewhere, but for a moment, among those empty promises to you, I lost myself.  It was cruel and beautiful, the distinction between the two still lost to me.  I score this transition of life with today’s group Let’s Buy Happiness.  They are a comfort to me.  A welcomed change I can accept; you are and have always been just a memory of what could never be.
